Cardiologist Position

Diagnose and treat diseases and injuries to the structure and function of the heart and peripheral arteries to determine the nature and extent of the injury or disorder. Responsible for a variety of cardiology procedures. Non-invasive procedures are those that assess and measure how the heart is functioning without entering the body by using ultrasound waves to examine the heart. These procedures may include transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, stress testing with echocardiography, nuclear cardiology (radioactive isotope injected into the bloodstream to detect areas of abnormal blood flow to the heart muscle during exercise), and noninvasive electrophysiology (testing to detect electrical abnormalities of the heart). Run non-invasive vascular studies on the carotid arteries in the neck and other vessels in the arms and legs. This is to study blood flow, check for narrowing (atherosclerosis), clots, and possible rupture of the vessel.

Treat patients who are having chest pain, have suffered heart attacks or strokes, have heart valve disease, have electrical abnormalities of the heart, and those with artery blockages not only in the heart but also in the rest of the body due to complications from diabetes or atherosclerosis. Prevent damage to arteries throughout the body as well as prevent damage to the heart. Taking pictures of arteries near the heart as well as those throughout the body will work to identify artery blockages. Finding a blockage and treating it in a timely manner could prevent damage to the artery and/or blood supply to vital organs, including the brain, heart, kidneys, or even lack of circulation to a limb. Prescribe medication and recommend dietary and activity programs, as indicated by the diagnosis.

Minimum Requirements:

Medical Degree (or foreign equivalent); Eligible for AZ state medical license; Completion of Residency in Internal or Family Medicine. Completion of Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship.
