Clinical Nurse III: SICU/Neuro ICU DAYS-36 hours/week

Overview Department/Unit: ICU-Surgical and Neuroscience - B2. Work Shift: Day (United States of America). Salary Range: $88,192.00 – $136,697.60. The Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) at Albany Med Health System has 30 intensive care beds and provides specialized care to critically ill adults (14 and older). The unit is split roughly 50/50 between neuro and surgical patients, treating conditions such as major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi‑trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis, multi‑organ failure, hemodynamic instability, and failure to wean. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive physical assessments and intensive monitoring of all patients. Manage laboratory values, ventilator settings, and hemodynamic parameters. Utilize ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra‑arterial catheter, and non‑invasive cardiac output monitoring. Conduct mechanical ventilation and continuous renal replacement therapy when indicated. Monitor reconstructive flap viability and coordinate massive blood transfusion protocols. Support on‑unit procedures such as placement of arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains, ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains, and related interventions. Provide education and support to patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Qualifications Registered Nurse license in the state of New York. Minimum 2 years of experience in med/surg, intermediate care, or ICU settings; this is not a new‑graduate position. Proficiency in neuro‑ICU monitoring modalities and common surgical ICU procedures. Strong critical‑care assessment and decision‑making skills. Excellent communication, teamwork, and evidence‑based practice competencies. Albany Med Health System is an equal‑opportunity employer.
