As an Off-Shift CNC Machinist at CMC, you will be a key contributor in bringing our precision parts to life for our clients by operating, setting up, and making in-process adjustments to CNC machining centers to produce components that meet our exacting quality and tolerance requirements. Our afternoon and night shift team members play a critical role in maximizing production capacity and ensuring we continue delivering exceptional results for our industry-leading clients.

Job Duties

• Load and unload parts and inspect finished parts to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications. Should be familiar with many or all of the following: Vertical/Horizontal CNC Mills and/or Lathes
• Must be familiar with machine operations and control settings for operations such as turning, boring, drilling, tapping, thread-milling, profiling and contouring. Make adjustments to the machine to control speed, feed and adjustments to compensate for tool wear as well as make sure machine is working well and producing quality products;
• Must work from drawings and specifications. Familiar with production processes and understands job packet documents. Should be able to set-up repeat jobs and new jobs with limited help;
• Must have ability to perform in process measurements and keep parts in statistical process control. Good knowledge of tool used for the inspection of parts. Should be familiar with CMC’s quality system;
• Perform a variety of general maintenance and show work required or other duties as assigned by supervisor;
• Responsible for machine daily maintenance checks and scheduled preventative maintenance;
• Responsible to keep clean, orderly and safe work areas;
• Specific duties and general shop skills pertaining to: Quality Control, Unsupervised machine adjustments – tool offsets, Production processes, Supervised machine adjustments – program and cutting parameters;
• Adhere to Employee’s responsibilities outlined in Cygnus’ Health & Safety Policy.  

Required Experience

• High School Education with Vo-Tech or Technical School background AND/OR previous CNC machining experience required;
• Journeyperson or NIMS papers preferred;
• Knowledge of machining techniques and methods;
• Familiarity with CNC Machine tool operating procedures;
• Good practical skills/mechanically inclined;
• Must possess knowledge of algebra, geometry and trigonometry;
• Good computer and problem-solving skills;
• The ability to work unsupervised with a high level of accuracy;
• Keen attention to detail, concentration and focus;
• Ability to work from technical drawings (blue prints);
• Ability to understand the machining of different materials ( i.e. stainless steel, steel, brass, aluminum, plastics);
• Ability to read and edit standard “G” code programs and conversational programs;
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and safely carry up to 40 pounds;
• Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment (including hot, cold and/or noisy areas);
• Frequent hand to finger, handle, feel objects & tools, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking and hearing;
• May be required to work up to 10 overtime hours per week;
• Physically submit to periodic drug tests (employment is contingent upon favorable results)
