Journeyman Network Engineer

Overview Journeyman Network Engineer responsible for deployment, configuration, and sustainment of secure, resilient network infrastructure. Works across operations to modernize base communications systems, enhance performance, and ensure interoperability with enterprise services and mission systems. Supports integration of switches, routers, firewalls, wireless systems, and structured cabling. Location: Los Angeles SFB. Position contingent upon successful contract award to V2X. Responsibilities Multi-disciplined network engineer with experience across wired, wireless, and mobile broadband solutions. Implement requirements, aid in designs and network topology artifact creation. Assist with developing designs, configurations, and implementations of data networks based on the customer’s performance and specifications. Conduct site surveys and network assessments to determine the best hardware and software components for network upgrades to ensure reliability, efficiency, and security. Support preliminary and final SPRIP development. Conduct system pre-tests and acceptance tests to validate designed performance criteria. Ensure installations are performed within safety standards and work site conditions, including restoration of the site to original or better condition. Provide Post-Deployment Over-the-Shoulder Training to the O&M team to ensure smooth transition of network systems. Extensive knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP); support cyber artifacts such as topology/data flow diagrams, hardware/software lists, STIG checklists, ports/protocols/services, and POA&Ms. Support design and implementation of secure networks, systems, and application architectures. Support network management such as SNMP, SYSLOG, and orchestration. Support LOM to capture major components and installation materials to ensure successful deployment of systems. Contribute to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable. Ensure network solutions follow all pertinent DAF policies and established compliant IT system integrations. Assist the O&M team in troubleshooting network-related issues post-deployment of the new systems. Gather and analyze system requirements to design and implement network solutions that are secure and scalable. Coordinate with local Communication Squadron and/or regional cybersecurity teams to configure, turn up, and cutover new deployments. Material & Equipment Directly Used Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio). Working Environment Office environment with potential to support austere locations. Physical Activities Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. Qualifications Education/Certifications: Technical BA/BS Degree; or High School Diploma or Associate Degree. CCNA or equivalent. CompTIA Security+. Experience/Skills: 5 years with BA/BS Degree; or Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Network Engineer for large, complex programs/systems with a High School or associate degree. Clearance Requirement: Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Tier 3) level clearance. Skills & Technology Used: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with team and customers.
