Fire Alarm, Security & Access Control Service Technician

Job Overview Wachter is accepting applications for a Fire Alarm/Intrusion/Access Control Service Technician to work at various retail locations across the United States. We seek self‑motivated, reliable technicians who can work independently and find solutions to complete the job. Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, and repair cabling systems and equipment in IP Video, Access Control / Intrusion Alarm / LAN/WAN infrastructure, and wireless LAN. Run low‑voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit bending work. Complete all wiring, connections/terminations, and equipment installations, ensuring that systems are customer‑satisfactory and meet contractual requirements. Install, repair, or upgrade fire alarm systems and program control panels using building plans and electrical layouts. Mount sensors and other components, performing necessary tasks such as drilling holes and accessing crawlspaces or attics. Test installed systems and component devices to confirm operational status. Adhere to all safety requirements set by Wachter, customers, or OSHA. Troubleshoot new system installations to ensure proper functioning and compliance with local, county, state, or federal codes and insurance requirements. Assist and collaborate with the Installation Team Lead or Project Manager on work schedules and timely delivery of equipment. Perform any other duties assigned by a supervisor. Qualifications Current and valid Texas Fire Alarm License. Physical Security and/or Life Safety license for the applicable technology. Field installation experience in security environments: Fire Alarm, Intrusion, and Access Control. Experience reading blueprints and site maps. Knowledge of NFPA standards, including NFPA 70 and 72. Experience with multiple Intrusion/Access system manufacturers is a plus. NICET certification (preferred). Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; no DUI/DWI in the last three years. Willingness to travel moderately (up to 20–30%) and work flexible shifts, including overnights. Availability for an one‑week, in‑person technician orientation. Basic PPE and reliable transportation during the training period. Computer, laptop, and smartphone proficiency; highly proficient with email and spreadsheets. Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Products is a plus. Excellent customer‑relationship and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and find solutions to complete jobs. Willingness to work at heights of 20–60 feet on lifts. Benefits Medical, dental, prescription, and vision benefits.
