Job Description:

The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality care to critically ill patients. The nurse will utilize their clinical skills to manage various patient types, assist with procedures like chest tubes and dressing changes, and monitor patients with cardiac and respiratory conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized care for patients with CHF, respiratory distress, ACS, and other critical conditions.
• Administer and monitor medication drips such as diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, nitro, and heparin.
• Perform patient assessments and implement care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Operate and monitor medical equipment including chest tubes and wound vacs.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an ICU setting.
• Completion of at least one previous travel assignment is mandatory.
• Preferred experience with Art line, Impella, and/or IABP.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications.

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
