2nd Shift Maintenance Technician

The 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician supports a high-volume apparel printing production facility by performing preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide range of industrial equipment. This role focuses on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of screen printing machines, laser systems, and other high-speed automated machinery to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation throughout the 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on screen printing machines, laser machines, and other high-speed automation equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues using strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, including identifying worn or damaged components and replacing parts as needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 480 volt, 3-phase power, control circuits, and related components, to restore equipment to proper working condition.
• Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential problems and implement corrective actions before failures occur.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications, codes, and technical handbooks to complete repairs and installations accurately.
• Perform maintenance and repairs involving hydraulics and pneumatics, including identifying leaks, replacing hoses, valves, and cylinders, and adjusting system settings.
• Utilize welding skills, when needed, to repair or fabricate components for machinery and equipment within the production facility.
• Use various testing devices and diagnostic tools related to the mechanical trades to evaluate equipment performance and verify proper operation after repairs.
• Apply knowledge of basic construction, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical principles when maintaining facility infrastructure and supporting production operations.
• Collaborate with production staff and other team members to understand equipment issues, prioritize work orders, and communicate repair status.
• Follow established preventive maintenance schedules and document work performed to ensure compliance with maintenance programs and safety standards.
• Operate a forklift, when appropriately licensed and required, to move equipment, parts, and materials safely within the facility.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, adhering to all safety procedures and company policies during maintenance and repair activities.
• Use basic computer skills to access maintenance documentation, update work order systems, and review equipment manuals or schematics as needed.

Essential Skills

• At least one year of relevant maintenance experience or training in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Industrial maintenance experience with a focus on machine and equipment maintenance in a production setting.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience working with 480 volt, 3-phase power systems.
• Mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting experience on production machinery and automated equipment.
• Ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment.
• Knowledge of general mechanical and electrical principles applicable to industrial maintenance.
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications, codes, and technical handbooks.
• Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to use various testing devices related to the mechanical trades for diagnostics and verification.
• Some knowledge of computers for accessing documentation, manuals, and maintenance records.
• Experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Five years of maintenance facility experience preferred.
• Experience in screen printing or an apparel production environment is preferred and can shorten the learning curve.
• Knowledge of basic construction, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work for facility support.
• Licensed forklift operator status is preferred.
• Experience working with hand tools and power tools is preferred.
• Welding experience for equipment and component repair is preferred.
• Familiarity with high-speed automation equipment and production machinery is an advantage.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large production facility with over 100 employees and multiple shifts, including both 1st and 2nd shift schedules. You will work the 2nd shift from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime on Saturdays as needed. The environment centers on apparel printing operations, including screen printing machines, laser machines, and other high-speed automation equipment. You will use a variety of hand tools, power tools, testing devices, and welding equipment, with tools provided by the employer. The facility operates as a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing setting where collaboration between full-time associates and other staff is common, and safety procedures and organized work practices are emphasized throughout the production floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $68640.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
