SUMMARY:

We are looking for an afternoon custodian to uphold the cleanliness and safety standards at Dexter High School. The individual will be responsible for performing daily general cleaning tasks both inside and outside the premises to ensure a clean, hygienic, organized, and appealing environment. The ideal candidate should be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.

DAYS/HOURS:

Monday - Friday ~ 2:30PM to 11:00PM

COMPENSATION:

$17.62 per hour Paid Leave Days Pension plan through Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System (MPSERS) Retirement Savings Plans 403B and 457 Retirement Plans Medical Benefits

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform cleaning duties in various areas such as rooms, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and corridors as assigned Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office spaces Polish and wax floors, as well as clean and extract rugs and carpets Dust furniture and equipment Empty trash containers and dispose of waste Wash windows, door panels, sills, and other general areas Replenish restroom supplies and maintain cleanliness Refill cleaning and general supplies in classrooms or rooms upon request Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks within the building Report major repair needs to management Clear snow and debris from sidewalks and designated areas, and salt icy surfaces Arrange tables and chairs in auditoriums, rooms, or halls as needed Address minor cleanups or accidents promptly Follow established safety protocols and procedures Assists in other areas as directed by building principal or supervisor

REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent Previous custodial experience preferred Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and overhead work Capable of working independently and collaboratively with a team Must have reliable transportation as travel within the district is required throughout the day Ability to work with administration, staff and bargaining unit members Strong attention to detailPunctuality and regular attendance are essential Excellent communication skills
