Job Title: Roofing Laborer – Commercial Projects

Job Description

This role focuses on performing roofing tear-offs and re-roof installations on commercial projects from start to finish. You will install, repair, and maintain a variety of commercial roofing systems while ensuring work meets safety, quality, and code requirements. The position involves hands-on construction work, collaboration with a site crew, and consistent adherence to safety standards on active job sites.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and replace commercial roofing systems, including TPO, EPDM, PVC, metal, and built-up roofs from start to finish.
• Measure, cut, and fit roofing materials accurately according to blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
• Install insulation, vapor barriers, flashing, and waterproofing systems to ensure watertight and durable roof assemblies.
• Align and secure roofing materials using adhesives, mechanical fasteners, or heat welding techniques as required by the system.
• Inspect existing roofs to identify leaks, damage, or wear and determine appropriate repair solutions.
• Remove old or damaged roofing materials and prepare roof surfaces for new roofing systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, patching, and emergency repairs to extend the service life of commercial roofs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders to ensure accurate layout and installation.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience in roofing, preferably with commercial roofing projects.
• Strong knowledge of various roofing systems, including TPO, EPDM, asphalt shingles, metal roofing, PVC, and built-up roofs.
• Ability to install, repair, and maintain commercial roofing systems from tear-off through completion.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
• Skill in measuring, cutting, and fitting roofing materials accurately.
• Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and roofing equipment such as lifts, torches, and cutters.
• Ability to work safely at heights and on ladders in different weather conditions.

Work Environment

This position is entirely field-based on active commercial construction sites. You will work outdoors on rooftops, often at heights, using ladders, scaffolding, and lifts. The role requires regular use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as torches and cutters. Work is physically demanding and involves lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods. You will work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain, while following all safety protocols. Personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and fall protection systems is required and used daily. Dress typically consists of durable work clothing and appropriate footwear suitable for construction environments. Work schedules generally follow standard construction hours, with potential for overtime based on project needs

This is a Permanent position based out of Madison, WI.

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $62400.00/yr.
