Founded in 1908 Settlement Music School, a non-profit organization, is one of the largest community schools of the arts in the United States serving children and adults of all ages at five branches in Pennsylvania located in South, West and Northeast Philadelphia, Germantown, Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, and its virtual branch, Settlement Music Online. Position: Cleaning Specialist

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 1:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. with a 30-minute dinner break; Wednesday 2:00 – 10:30 p.m. with a 30-minute dinner break

Reports to: Branch Director and Director of Facilities

Location: 416 Queen Street, Philadelphia, PA

Position Overview

Settlement is looking for a full-time cleaning specialist at our Mary Louise Curtis Branch. The person is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the branch including the cleaning restrooms and lobby areas on a consistent basis. The person is also responsible for closing the building each evening.

Additional Key Responsibilities

• Report incidents and areas of security concern to the Branch Director, collaborating on security improvements for the safety of all.
• Respond to safety and security concerns/incidents in a calm and professional manner.
• Observe branch conditions and report any needed repairs or safety hazards.
• Assure all security and fire alarm systems are operating properly.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.
• Knowledge of standard cleaning methods, practices, tools, and equipment used to clean buildings and furniture.
• Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as vacuum cleaners, cleaning compounds, and solutions.
• Ability to stand and walk for an extended period of time.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds, bend,  and reach for extended periods.
• Interviewed candidates must pass state and federal criminal background checks and PA Child Abuse History Clearances.
• Minimum 3 years of related work experience.

Salary: $36,500.00 per year; overtime possible at a rate of $26.32
