Staff Accountant

LHH is partnering with a growing, community-focused organization in North San Diego County to identify an experienced Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role offers the chance to step into a dynamic accounting team during a period of growth and transition, with strong long-term potential for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to operate with minimal oversight while managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Support monthly and year-end close processes
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules
• Review and verify accounting transactions (invoices, purchase orders, etc.)
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures
• Track financial activity related to specific projects or funding sources as needed
• Partner cross-functionally to gather financial data and support reporting needs
• Identify and implement process improvements within accounting workflows
• Provide support and guidance to junior staff, as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of general accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting processes
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs or similar)
• Experience with ERP systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Pay Details: $30.00 to $34.00 per hour
