The TL;DR Role: Internship Type: Seasonal Location: In-person Huntington, WV Mission: This intern will support the financial operations of Steel Dynamics by assisting with core accounting tasks, ensuring compliance, and providing data-driven insights to optimize business processes. Tech Stack: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) What You’ll Actually Do Execute core accounting procedures, including preparing journal entries, conducting account reconciliations, and supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities. Contribute to financial reporting, assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, and support capital project accounting and fixed asset management. Participate in internal and external audits by validating compliance, verifying inventory levels, and assessing internal controls. Manage accounts payable and receivable transactions, process invoices, resolve discrepancies, and support expense reporting and cash controls. Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to troubleshoot issues, recommend process improvements, and provide valuable financial insights. The Must-Haves Background: Entry-Level undergraduate student currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
