Medical Receptionist

*Position Summary* The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while supporting daily front office operations. This role is responsible for patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, referral coordination, and maintaining accurate patient records in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Greet and check in patients while providing a welcoming and professional experience.
* Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
* Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, and contact information.
* Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries in a courteous and timely manner.
* Process specialty and diagnostic referrals and coordinate appointments with outside providers and facilities.
* Communicate appointment details and referral information to patients.
* Assist with obtaining required authorizations and approvals from insurance carriers, health plans, and review organizations.
* Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, referrals, and appointment activity.
* Track referral status and follow up on outstanding referrals as needed.
* Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, specialists, and insurance representatives.
* Prepare and organize patient records and documentation for provider review.
* Support front office operations and ensure patient information remains accurate and confidential.
* Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure a seamless patient experience.
*Required Qualifications*
* Minimum of 1 year of medical receptionist, referral coordinator, or medical office experience.
* Experience working with referrals and authorizations.
* Familiarity with IPA and HMO health plans.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Understanding of insurance verification and authorization processes.
* Strong customer service and communication skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Experience using Cerner EMR.
* Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes.
* Bilingual in Spanish.

*Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
