Accounting Manager RoleThe Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting for BSTGF's clients. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, implementing practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and controls are in place for each client. The Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising a team of accounting specialists to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. The Accounting Manager could manage up to 7-12 clients at a time.This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including month-end close preparation, financial reporting, implementation of new systems and processes, year-end client tax and audit projects, and the support of budget and forecast activities.Essential Responsibilities:Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong professional relationshipsManage client accounting projects from planning to completion, ensuring quality standards and deadlines are metDevelop and implement accounting systems and processes tailored to client needsProvide financial insights and advisory services to support clients' business decisionsConduct regular client meetings to discuss financial performance and strategic opportunitiesSupervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting specialistsAssign and review work, providing constructive feedback and guidanceMonitor team workload and project status to ensure efficient resource allocationFoster a collaborative team environment that promotes knowledge sharing and continuous improvementParticipate in and present at board meetings or management meetingsBuild a forecast and budget for small to medium clientsOversee purchase orders, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes, including vendor management, invoice processing, payment approvals, customer invoicing, collections, and strategic financial guidanceAssist with developing standardized procedures and methodologies for clientsOverall day-to-day management of financial reporting accuracy and on-time processing of client informationProduce financial reporting packages on a monthly or quarterly basisLead audit and tax return preparation annuallySupervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting specialistsTo be successful in this role, you will bring with you:Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred or Associate's Degree with requisite experienceValid driver's license and reliable transportation required for travel to client sitesProficient knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingStrong understanding of internal controls and financial processesExperience with a CPA firm environment and/or outsourced accounting servicesExperience with cloud-based accounting solutions and integrated technology platforms, such as QBO, Sage Intacct, Fund Ez, Net Suite, Workday, etc.Comprehensive knowledge and experience in managing payroll processesCapable of building, revamping or improving a month-end close process for small to medium clients.Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Products (Outlook, Teams, Planner, etc.)Excellent client relationship management abilitiesStrong leadership and team development capabilitiesSuperior written and verbal communication skillsExceptional problem-solving and analytical thinkingAbility to translate complex financial information into actionable insightsStrong project management and organizational skillsDetail-oriented perspective with high standards for quality and accuracyDemonstrated engagement management skills and ability to manage a book of 7-12 clients; understanding of scope, timeline and budget; ability to identify roadblocks and meet deadlines.Innovative thinking and approach to enhancing controls and efficienciesAbility to apply the audit approach to month-end close process and financial reportingAbility to prepare balance sheet and income statement reconciliations to supporting documentation and/or subledger dataAnalytical capabilities to review general ledger for missing transactions and/or trends in the data to ensure accuracy of financial reporting on a monthly and annual basisAbility to work in a standard office environment and sit at a desk for extended periodsAbout BST Gallagher FlynnBST Gallagher Flynn is a regional accounting and advisory firm formed through the merger of BST & Co. and Gallagher Flynn & Company.
