Desktop Support Technician – Manufacturing / Refinery Environment Location: Onsite – Houston, TX (Refinery) Overview We are seeking a Desktop Support Technician to provide hands‑on IT support at a large manufacturing and refinery location in the Houston area. This role supports end users across desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices while delivering excellent customer service in a fast‑paced industrial environment. The ideal candidate has strong desktop support fundamentals, experience in enterprise IT environments, and is comfortable working onsite in a manufacturing setting with required safety protocols. This is a long‑term contract opportunity with strong potential for full‑time conversion. Applicable Job Titles Desktop Support Technician IT Support Technician End User Support Analyst LAN / Desktop Support Technician Onsite IT Support Specialist Top Skills & Experience (Most Important) Enterprise Desktop Support experience in corporate environments Hardware, printer, and peripheral troubleshooting Strong customer service and communication skills Comfort working onsite in a manufacturing or industrial environment Required Skills & Technologies Desktop and laptop support (Windows environments) Hardware break/fix, device swaps, and peripheral support Printer troubleshooting and maintenance Active Directory (basic user and device support) Microsoft Office 365 support (Intune Support) Mobile device support, including iOS enrollment and troubleshooting Ticketing systems and SLA‑driven support workflows Imaging, deployment, and workstation setup Excellent customer‑facing and communication skills Nice‑to‑Have Skills Manufacturing, oil & gas, energy, or industrial IT experience Network support exposure (smart‑hands assistance for network teams) Endpoint security or antivirus support Intune or MDM exposure (user‑assistance level) Conference room or AV support Key Responsibilities Provide onsite desktop and end‑user IT support for employees in a manufacturing/refinery environment Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, printer, and mobile device issues Support walk‑up users and ticket‑based requests Assist with device imaging, deployment, and refresh initiatives Maintain accurate inventory and follow corporate IT standards Serve as smart hands for network and infrastructure teams when needed Communicate effectively with users, teammates, and business partners Follow all safety requirements and procedures while working onsite Work Environment & Schedule Fully onsite role at a 24/7 refinery location Standard business hours (7–4 or 8–5) with team coverage Occasional off‑hours support may be required Must be willing to wear PPE and comply with all safety training and protocols Minimum Qualifications 2–4+ years of desktop or end‑user IT support experience Experience supporting users in a corporate or enterprise environment Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills Ability to work onsite in an industrial/manufacturing setting Pay And Benefits Pay range: $27.00 - $33.00/hr Benefits available for this temporary role include medical, dental & vision; critical illness, accident and hospital; 401(k) plan; life insurance; short and long‑term disability; HSA; transportation; employee assistance program; PTO/leave Equal Employment Opportunity The company is an equal opportunity employer and will consider all applications without regard to race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information or any other characteristic protected by law.
