(Electrician Technician | Engine Controls | Power Generation | Caterpillar Equipment)

Mustang Cat , the authorized Caterpillar® dealer for Southeast Texas, is hiring a highly skilled Field Service Electrician to join our elite Power Systems Division in Houston, Texas . In this critical role, you'll travel to customer sites to diagnose, repair, and maintain Caterpillar power generation equipment , including diesel and gas engines, switchgear, and complex electrical systems.

What You'll Do as a Field Service Electrician:

As a Field Service Electrician , you will troubleshoot and repair CAT engine controls, electrical systems, and power generation equipment at customer locations. Key responsibilities include:

• Troubleshoot and repair engines, generators, controls, switchgear, and wiring
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and point-to-point drawings
• Install Class 1 Div 2 conduit and wiring , including enclosure lighting panels
• Perform Load Bank testing and work with Low, Medium, and High Voltage systems
• Fabricate and install engine harnesses and solder wire connections
• Install and wire generators, switchgear, controls, conversions, and related components
• Generate detailed field service reports for customer documentation
• Provide exceptional customer service while on job sites
• Other field-related electrical duties as required

Position Requirements:

• Must own proper tools to perform all necessary field repairs
• Associate's degree or certificate from a technical school preferred
• Minimum 5 years' experience troubleshooting engine controls and wiring
• C175 engine experience a plus
• CAT Switchgear experience a plus
• Proficient with AC/DC circuits, schematics, and general mechanical systems
• Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely
• Strong understanding of Caterpillar generators, switchgear, and load bank operations
• Field service experience with diesel engines, gas compression, and PLC/HMI systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in the field

Preferred Experience:

• CAT switchgear certification and CAT training
• Prior military mechanic experience is a plus
