The Salem VAMC is in the City of Salem and serves veterans throughout the state. This VA tertiary referral center is a teaching hospital providing a full range of patient care services. Authorized beds include 182 general medical, surgical, and psychiatry; 90 Extended Care Rehabilitation Center; 26 Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (10 long term Substance Abuse).

Physician Anesthesiologist

\n

Salem VA Medical Center - Salem, Virginia.

\n

-Current staffing: 1 Chief, 5 CRNAs

\n

-2 Full-Time positions, 2.0 FTEE 

\n

Practice Environment Description: As a Staff Anesthesiologist you will report to the Chief of Anesthesia who reports to the Chief of Surgery.

\n

Highlights of this position include:

\n

\n
• Potential starting base salary: $325,000 - $400,000                                                                        
\n
• Daily schedule: Monday Friday, 7:00 am 3:30pm, non-telework eligible, non-remote.
\n
• Additional night and weekend calls are distributed on an equitable basis with the other staff. By rotation, approximately once every 7 days.
\n
• Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery from any U.S. State
\n
• Open to evaluating current trainees and recent graduates, as well as non-citizens holding J1 or H1B visas.
\n

• Board certified or board eligible and BC/BE Anesthesiologist.

Malpractice Insurance VA physicians are covered under the Federal Tort Claims Act - 28 U.S.C. 1346 and 28 U.S.C 2671.  Medical personnel have statutory immunity from individual malpractice liability while acting within the scope of employment; a VA physician cannot be sued in civil court for a malpractice (tort) claim.
