Shift: 7am Friday 7am Monday (24-hour call)

Duration: Ongoing, with key dates 10/23-10/25, 12/28-01/01, plus one weekend every other month

Hours/Week: 36 hours

Licenses/Certifications: Valid medical license in Louisiana, Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Pulmonary and Critical Care

Experience: ICU and pulmonary care experience preferred

What You'll Do

• Provide ICU coverage for a 162-bed hospital with 30 ICU beds and 24 step-down beds in a high-capacity, high-acuity setting.
• Manage a patient load averaging 18 consults daily, including pulmonary and critical care cases.
• Lead 24-hour call shifts with 8 hours of patient contact, participating in patient assessments, ventilator management, and critical interventions.
• Collaborate with hospitalists, vascular, and general surgeons, with ample backup from on-site specialties.
• Perform procedures such as central line placement, including dialysis lines, with support from established surgical teams.
• Follow protocols within an open ICU model, emphasizing patient safety and quality care.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, including maintaining privileges through a clean background and compliance with credentialing requirements.

What You Need

• Active medical license in Louisiana and appropriate certifications.
• At least 2 years of ICU and pulmonary care experience.
• Strong clinical skills in critical care management, airway management, and invasive procedures.
• Ability to work flexible 7am-7am shifts with a positive, team-oriented approach.
• Willingness to work weekends and participate in scheduled dates.
