Signature Homes is a privately held, owner-sponsored real estate investment and development firm based in downtown Salt Lake City. Backed by a local family office, the firm focuses on middle-market development projects across Salt Lake County and operates as a vertically integrated B-100 General
Contractor. Our team is involved in every phase of the real estate lifecycle, from land acquisition and entitlement to construction and asset completion. Interns work directly with firm leadership and gain exposure that is typically unavailable in large institutional settings.
Internship Overview
This internship is designed for students pursuing careers in real estate, finance, development, or private equity who want real, hands-on experience in active deals, not just spreadsheet exercises. Interns will support financial modeling, due diligence, entitlement coordination, land sourcing, and construction administration while working directly with the President and team members. This role is intended to develop into a full-time analyst position for strong performers after graduation.
What You Will Do
You will assist with underwriting development and value-add projects using Excel models, supporting analysis of project costs, financing structures, and investment returns including IRR, MOIC, and NPV. You will help audit and improve firm underwriting templates and assumptions while researching market data, zoning, and public records for new opportunities. On the development side, you will assist with city applications, entitlement checklists, and project schedules, coordinate with municipalities and utility providers alongside senior staff, and review zoning codes, land use maps, and planning documents. You will also help in identifying land leads through working with local agents and brokers.
- Currently pursuing a degree in real estate, finance, economics, construction management, urban planning, or a related field
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel — including financial modeling, complex formulas, and dynamic pro forma construction
- Strong real estate financial modeling skills — demonstrated ability to underwrite development projects and analyze investment returns (IRR, MOIC, NPV, cash-on-cash)
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Interest in hands-on exposure to development and private capital
- Goal of growing into a full-time real estate investment or development role
