Histotechnologist - Surgical Pathology - PT - DaysTo process, embed, cut, and stain human tissue. Staining includes routine and special stains. This job profile may require call subject to the department's discretion.Education and Experience Required: Degree (Associate's or Bachelor's) with one (1) year of experience in histopathology.Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: N/AKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to properly orient, embed, and cut tissue using microtome and cryostat. Understanding of tissue processing. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members. Computer and related software application skills. Ability to maintain accurate records.Orients and embeds tissue in paraffin per standardized methods. Freezes, orients, embeds, and cuts fresh tissue.Uses microtome and/or cryostat to perform microtome on tissue specimens to exacting measures of acceptability. Files cassettes.Performs routine and special stains.Labels and distributes slides to pathologists. Files slides.Performs and documents equipment maintenance and quality control measures.Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.The duties listed are general in nature and are examples of the duties and responsibilities performed and are not meant to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
