Locum Tenens Anesthesiologist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $9,540–$10,050
• Location: Memphis, Tennessee
• Start Date: January 4, 2027
• Duration: Approximately 52 weeks, through December 31, 2027
• Schedule: PRN coverage; Multiple shifts 
• Additional Coverage: Potential 10-, 12-, and 24-hour shifts, as well as weeknight, weekend, and holiday call
• Call: Beeper call; no overtime expected
• Clinical Focus: Cardiovascular anesthesiology and general anesthesiology
• Documentation System: Epic

Cardiovascular Anesthesiologist Job Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an approved anesthesiology residency
• Required fellowship training in cardiovascular anesthesiology
• Required TEE certification and expertise in transesophageal echocardiography
• Board certification or board eligibility in anesthesiology
• At least 1 year of anesthesiology experience; approximately 3 years of post-fellowship cardiovascular anesthesiology experience preferred
• Current physician licensure or eligibility and willingness to obtain licensure in Tennessee
• ECFMG and FLEX documentation, when applicable to internationally trained physicians
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to high-quality patient care

Cardiovascular Anesthesiology Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia care for complex cardiovascular and general surgical cases
• Manage cases involving ventricular assist devices, Impella, ECMO, heart transplantation, CABG, valve procedures, TAVR, complex vascular surgery, thoracic stents, TCAR, and robotic lung surgery
• Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations and obtain or verify informed consent
• Discuss anesthetic options, risks, and expected outcomes with patients and families
• Conduct induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia while monitoring patients’ physiologic status
• Provide timely clinical interventions and respond to changes in patient condition
• Supervise and medically direct CRNAs, generally within a 1:4 to 1:5 physician-to-CRNA model
• Perform individual cases when appropriate based on daily clinical volume and patient needs
• Collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons and the broader perioperative team to support excellent patient outcomes
• Contribute to anesthesia department coordination and ongoing quality standards
• Accurately document patient care in Epic
