Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their specific emotional and psychological needs. \n
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions tailored to the unique challenges faced by seniors, including grief, loss, depression, and anxiety. \n
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians and social workers, to develop and implement personalized care plans. \n
- Facilitate educational workshops for staff and families to enhance their understanding of age-related mental health issues and strategies for improving quality of life. \n
- Conduct grief and end-of-life counseling to assist clients and their families in navigating these challenging circumstances. \n
- Implement cognitive stimulation exercises and other evidence-based interventions to promote mental acuity and overall well-being among elderly clients. \n
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records of client interactions and treatment plans using digital health systems. \n
You will primarily work with senior citizens dealing with issues such as loss, life transitions, and various mental health disorders often exacerbated by aging. This client focus requires a deep understanding of the psychological aspects of aging, as well as a strong commitment to culturally sensitive care that respects the diverse backgrounds of each individual.
Qualifications\n- \n
- A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution. \n
- A valid Massachusetts Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential. \n
- A minimum of four years of recent experience in mental health counseling, specifically working with the geriatric population. \n
- Proficient in using telehealth technologies to deliver remote therapy services. \n
- Strong understanding of evidence-based practices for addressing mental health issues in older adults. \n
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster trust and rapport with elderly clients. \n

- Specialized training in geriatric mental health, including knowledge of aging-related challenges. \n
- Experience in creating and executing treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of older adults. \n

- An understanding of ethical and legal standards in mental health counseling, particularly as they relate to geriatric clients. \n
