Travel Surgical Technologist

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with strong trauma, vascular, and neuro experience for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL.

Job Details

• Hospital-based surgical setting with a 15-bed OR unit at a Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center,
• Patient population is primarily adult with minimal pediatric cases (typically orthopedic),
• 1:1 patient ratio,
• Specialties include trauma (no burns), neuro, general, vascular (including endovascular), ENT, ortho spine, GYN, urology, robotics (general and neuro), plastics, breast, and eyes; CVOR experience is not required for general OR staff,
• Robotic platforms in use include Mazor and DaVinci XI; strong robotics experience preferred,
• EMR: Cerner (Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Spacelabs monitors),
• 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week; shift times vary: 0630-1500, 0630-1900, 1230-2300,
• Weekend on-call rotation required,
• Call schedule includes one day per week (1500-0700) and one weekend per month (Friday 1500-Monday 0700) for all service lines except Open Heart,
• Holiday coverage is expected during the contract,
• No floating required,

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of surgical technology experience required,
• First-time travelers are considered with at least 2 years of experience; candidates with only 1 year of experience will not be considered,
• Strong hands-on experience in trauma (no burns), neuro, general, vascular, ENT, ortho spine, GYN, urology, robotics, plastics, breast, and eyes,
• Competency in vascular procedures including AAA, carotids, AVG, AVF, Fem-Fem bypass, aorta bi-fem; endovascular experience preferred,
• Surgical technology certification preferred but not required,
• AL license required if applicable,
• One supervisor-level reference (charge or above) from within the past 12 months required for consideration,
• DOB (day and month) required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Scrub color is green; scrubs are provided,
• Orientation is 2 weeks on day shift; buddy call is expected during orientation,
• Scheduling is determined by department needs; time off requests must be approved by the manager,
• Permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler at this facility,
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible,
• An interview is required prior to any offer; offers are not made automatically,
• Support staff includes OR assistants, desk assistants, some first assistants, a charge nurse, and service line team leaders
