Areas of expertise include ground, airborne and shipboard systems. Engineers from the group are critical to all aspects of prototype or system development beginning with conceptual design, continuing through detail design, system integration and test, fabrication, and environmental testing. We provide technical guidance through rigorous analytical, physical, and computational methods with data driven products to enhance decision making and risk management.MITRE's Mechanical and Reliability Department is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to perform mechanical and environmental analyses for ground, airborne and shipboard systems.The successful candidate will:Work with cross-functional technical teams comprised of both in-house and sponsor personnel in the development and evaluation of command and control systems.Perform dynamics, structural, and thermofluids analyses at the component, individual item, and system level.Be responsible for deliverables or parts of deliverables to sponsors.Basic Qualifications:Typically requires 2-5 years of related experience with a related Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experienceSkilled in the use of CAD software and generating design concepts and detailed design for complex mechanical assembliesKnowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Experience conducting engineering analyses in the areas of structures, dynamics, or thermofluids, including the use of finite element analysis (FEA) techniquesExperience working collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate excellent and effective written and verbal communication skillsMust be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance.
