Engineer II-EPC

Position Overview Engineer II – mid‑level electrical engineering position responsible for providing technical engineering information and support to senior engineers to ensure that projects comply with all requirements, engineering standards, applicable codes, and specifications. Key Responsibilities Oversee junior engineers, designers, and staff assigned to your work or team. Review, comment, and process equipment and system submittals in coordination with the Engineer of Record. Generate electrical specifications appropriate for the project. Develop a complete and accurate sequence of operations for all designed systems. Perform equipment and system testing and commissioning. Coordinate design activities with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, project management, field, and all electrical trades. Prepare designs, check, and specify power, lighting, and auxiliary systems for PV, DG, BESS, or MV systems. Prepare power system single‑line diagrams, including feeder, overcurrent protection sizing, and equipment elevations. Conduct short‑circuit, overcurrent protection device coordination studies, and Arc Flash mitigation studies. Perform calculations for distribution capacity due to voltage drop, droop, or underground heat effect (Neher‑McGrath). Coordinate work with project specifications or equipment manufacturers. Visit job sites to field survey existing electrical conditions and conduct on‑site field assignments as needed. Utilize engineering analysis programs and professional judgment to analyze loads, energy production, lighting levels, and short‑circuit currents. Conduct value engineering functions. Lead project design team meetings and interface with clients, architects, subcontractors, and engineers from other trades. Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors. Represent the design group during construction to provide proper and timely information for installation, including attendance at Owner and Contractor meetings. Assist in marketing of the firm. Requirements Minimum 2 years of renewable engineering experience. Successfully completed the Engineering in Training (EIT) program from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and encouraged to pursue registration as a Professional Engineer. Working electrical engineering knowledge in power distribution, lighting, grounding, energy conservation, and value engineering for state‑of‑the‑art constructible projects. Proficiency with short‑circuit, over‑current coordination, and arc‑flash analysis programs. Fluency with applicable codes and energy‑efficiency requirements. Working knowledge of AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Map3D, Autodesk Civil3D, Google Earth, PVsyst, PVcase, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary. Strong oral and written communication skills. Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player. Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others. High‑rise residential, commercial, and data‑center experience is a plus. Travel & Working Conditions Travel up to 20%. Work environment includes long periods of sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, and occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. Primarily indoors with variable lighting and temperature. Noise level usually low to medium; higher on construction sites.
