Work Schedule Full‑time, day shift – Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (call rotation). Job Overview Reports to the Director. Under the general supervision of the performing physician, performs cardiac ultrasound and non‑invasive diagnostic studies of the heart and related studies. Maintains each patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information. Patient Care Delivery – Clinical Care Conducts echocardiograms and education as needed. Proficiently performs all types of echocardiographic procedures including M‑mode, 2‑D, Doppler, Color flow, and Stress Echo on adults and children. Keep Records Maintains a daily logbook. Ensures Echo report is in Vericis (or other software used) prior to physician read. Keeps patient records on file in the department so previous findings can be compared with current Echo. Supply Inventory/Department Maintenance Monitors stock supplies and materials and reports shortages. Maintains rooms and department areas neat and orderly. Interact with Physicians Selects appropriate data for measurement and analysis and presents it to the physician for interpretation. Participates in physician’s interpretation or reading sessions. Reports immediately to the interpreting physician if a life‑threatening situation occurs. Reports interpreted findings to the ordering physician when appropriate. Emergency Procedures Responds immediately to emergency situations when called. Resource Driven Practice Seeks education and supervision as necessary. Participates in councils, committees, and process improvement activities. Has regular and prompt attendance. Attends at least 80 % of staff meetings. Attends mandatory in‑services and staff meetings. Completes skills validation and online learning as required. Maintains active registry status for ARDMS or CCI. Outcomes Receives patient feedback via call backs, leader rounds, or surveys. Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the department Completes other job‑related duties and projects as assigned. Organizational Responsibilities Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared. Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department‑specific education within established timeframes. Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes. Maintains license, certification, registration in good standing throughout the fiscal year. Direct patient care providers maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other required certifications. Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self. Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process, and compliance. Complies with established organization and department policies. Education and Experience RDCS or RCS required; if new graduate, must obtain within 2 years of graduation. Maintains current CPR certification. 1 to 2 years of job‑related experience preferred. Proficiently performed all types of adult and pediatric echocardiograms in a busy Echo Lab (highly preferred). Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of general anatomy and physiology, basic physical principles of ultrasound, basic mathematics, and medical terminology. Must know detailed normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy. Must know cross‑sectional anatomy of all imaging planes and techniques for recording all sector images, distinguishing normal from abnormal findings. Has a thorough understanding of the anatomy and pathophysiology of cardiac disease processes and can adapt techniques accordingly. Knows the function of equipment controls and techniques used in all types of echocardiograms, and possesses sufficient skill to produce a complete anatomic and functional record for physician interpretation. Competent in making quantitative calculations from echo data. Can transport ultrasound equipment to the patient’s bedside and arrange the bed and bedside furniture appropriately. Methodical and compulsive in examining all possible sector planes. Quickly analyzes data and responsibly reports any life‑threatening situations to the interpreting physician. Assists patients to and from examining tables and positions them properly. Requires good vision and color vision to assess color Doppler, and excellent hearing skills to assess individual cardiac Doppler sounds. Demonstrates good decision‑making skills to evaluate and solve daily scheduling concerns as they arise. Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with physicians and team members, and has strong guest relations skills with patients and families. Working Conditions Must concentrate despite distracting surroundings. Hours may vary to cover team members’ absences or as requested by Manager/Director. Physical Demands Requires the physical ability and stamina to walk/stand for prolonged periods, push carts or wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, position or lift patients up to 35 pounds unassisted (over 35 pounds requires assistance), provide CPR, and perform similar duties. #J-18808-Ljbffr
