PACU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
• Nursing Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Pre-Op, and Perioperative Nursing
• Location: Arcata, California
• Start Date: October 2, 2026
• End Date: January 1, 2027
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Monday–Friday daytime shifts with shared call coverage for nights and weekends
• Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Position Type: Travel nursing contract

PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of current Registered Nurse (RN) experience, preferably in PACU, pre-operative, post-operative, or perioperative nursing
• Current, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• TB clearance completed within the past 12 months
• Ability to participate in shared call coverage, including nights and weekends
• Strong patient assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and clinical monitoring skills

PACU RN and Pre-Op Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures
• Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and promptly identify changes in condition
• Complete focused assessments, vital-sign monitoring, pain assessments, and airway evaluations
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols and provider orders
• Prepare patients for surgery and support an efficient pre-operative workflow
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perioperative staff, and other members of the care team
• Provide patient and family education related to recovery, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
• Respond effectively to urgent clinical needs during scheduled shifts and shared call coverage
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support continuity of care throughout the perioperative experience
