Organization OverviewPartnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.Our mission at PUC Schools is to develop and manage high-quality charter schools in densely populated urban communities with overcrowded and low-achieving schools. We uplift and revitalize communities through the success of our students and through inspiring them to uplift our communities now and forever and through the development of educational and other supportive partnerships.The Team Member we are searching forThe ideal English Language Development (ELD) Teacher believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success.What you will need to accomplish:Support with integrated ELD (iELD) and ELPAC based on site needsFocus on supporting the implementation of iELD across contents (this includes Professional Development and collaborating in coaching conversations)Assist in the implementation of the ELD program and provide support to teachers as they implement a balanced program designed to meet the needs of all English LearnersCollaborate with administrators, general education teachers, and Inclusion Specialists to schedule and administer the ELPAC assessmentsSupport and coordinate ELAC meetings and reclassification processWork in a collaborative manner with colleagues to support the appropriate use of specially designed academic learning in English (SDAIE) strategies in general education classesSupport teachers with Integrated ELD instruction through classroom observations, coaching conversations, and planning and facilitating professional developmentWork with site administrators to ensure teaching methods are directed towards meeting and surpassing the standardsMeet regularly with administration during a planning period to discuss DELD updates and plan for literacy needs, coaching, and professional developmentDesign and instruct students using effective research-based instructional practices that address the cultural context of English learners and are in alignment with the standards for English Language Development (ELD)Track the success of EL StudentsProvide Literacy Intervention support to studentsDifferentiate lesson plans to engage and challenge studentsBuild authentic relationships with students by serving as a mentor; consistently reinforce the belief that all students have the capacity to be successful through collegeCommunicate with parents to ensure they are aware of reclassification requirements and ELPAC testing informationOther duties as assigned by Site PrincipalWhat do we require from you?Minimum QualificationsEducation:Possession of a valid Preliminary or Clear Single Subject or Multiple Subject Credential • Possession of either Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) certificate; Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD)certificate; embedded EL Authorizations: ELA1 requiredQualification for a permit if the applicant does not possess an EL Authorization is required. PUC Schools can further advise on qualifications after an application has been submittedExperience:Solid knowledge of the subject matter, including California State Standards and subject specific frameworks and assessmentsKnowledge of teaching methods and strategies which are highly effective for English learners, Common Core Standards, ELD standards as well as secondary curriculum and materialsYou are a mission-driven individual who has experience working with diverse student populations, including English language learners and students with disabilitiesSkills and AbilitiesKnowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientationProficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticityMust be flexible and collaborativeAble to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentBilingual in Spanish preferredStrong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of workRegular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this positionThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below.
