Senior Behavior Health Associate- Per Diem

Job Location: BHI Bristol Hospital Main Campus - Bristol, CT 06010 Position Type: Per Diem Education Level: High School Job Shift: Any Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Provides direct care to patients under supervision/direction of the registered nurse Performs a wide variety of tasks using a patient centered model, including but not limited to: Assist with Bathing / Personal Hygiene Assist with ambulation of patient Assist with feeding Assist with toileting Assist with vital signs Weights Safety checks Continuous observation of patients Exhibits knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care Exhibits knowledge of principles of growth and development for patient groups served Demonstrates knowledge of providing care for specific population / age Demonstrates knowledge of computer skills Exhibits ability to provide safe care to individual needs of the patient / family / caregiver in a patient centered environment Exhibits attributes of caring, empathy and promotion of positive work environment Embodies a strong work ethic Exemplifies communication in calm professional manner Demonstrates strong desire to work as a member of the team Demonstrates excellence in the vision of customer service in health care Exhibits good team collaboration skills Qualifications Educational/Minimum requirements: Must have High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Must have a valid and active CNA Certification in the State of Connecticut. Must have a valid CPR w/BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience working in a long term care and/or behavioral health setting. Preferred: Good communication skills 1 year experience in acute care inpatient environment as Patient Care Assistant or CNA Special Requirements Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and medical terminology. Ability to work as part of a team. Data entry and documentation skills. Experience working with a psychiatric population. Physical Requirements Significant walking, bending, stooping, patient lifting and positioning. Must be able to participate in PERT. Manual dexterity for phlebotomy and data entry. Work Environment Stressful working conditions in a patient care environment. Exposure to patient fluids and waste. Rapid pace and variable environment. Cognitive Requirements Mental flexibility to perform diverse duties involved in patient care. Good communication skills, written and oral, and ability to follow written and oral instruction.
