Purpose
The Cook/Prep Cook position ensures that our food is cooked to proper cooking temperatures, and is fresh to ensure the best quality food for our guests. This position is also responsible for food prep as needed. This Cook/Prep Cook position requires contact with the public, the ability to work well with co-workers, and assists Santa’s guests in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.

Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Cook all food items to proper temperature.
  2. Prepare quality food items for all guests.
  3. Ensure proper portion size.
  4. Follows all policies and procedures.
  5. Ensure all work areas remain cleaned and sanitized.
  6. Ensure all supplies are stocked and re-stocked, as needed.
  7. Communicate with servers to ensure all orders can be filled.
  8. Follows ServSafe food handling guidelines
  9. Wash and sanitize all dishes, trays, pots, pans, utensils, etc.
  10. Ensures safety of all employees and guests.
  11. Greets guests courteously and assists guests.
  12. Arrive at work on time, in “good show,” and keeps neat and clean throughout the day.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  1. Knows proper food temperatures.
  2. Understanding of the importance of allergen information and cross-contamination hazards.
  3. Able to learn which cleaning products are needed to clean food areas safely and efficiently.
  4. Must possess a courteous and friendly rapport with guests and co-workers.
  5. Have interpersonal/communication skills orally and in written language.
  6. Understanding importance of wearing gloves and washing hands.

Extent of Public Contact
The Cook/Prep Cook, even though mainly in the kitchen area, will on occasion be in contact with the public providing them assistance, and answer their questions in order that they might better enjoy their visit.

Physical Demands
This position requires frequent reaching, stretching, stooping and climbing up and down stairs. Much of the workday consists of standing and walking. Often this position will be required to lift boxes weighing up to 20 pounds, and occasionally may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions and Environment
Daytime and Christmastime position which may include weekends and holidays. Position is mostly indoors; however, cleaning and chores may be outside as well as inside shops.

Cooks may work in any of the following extreme weather situations:

  • Summer – Hot and Humid Conditions:
    1. Cooks will work in hot environments, often with high humidity, especially in summer months

Job Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Prior fast food cooking experience is preferred
  • Must be able to exhibit all physical demands listed in this job description at any given time during shift
  • Must be willing to work in a hot kitchen for a full shift
  • Must be flexible throughout season, with weekend availability
  • Must be able to work independently, with little daily supervision
9:15am - 5:15pm
