Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday–Thursday 6:30am-5:00pm | 4x10 Schedule

Location: Eden Prairie, MN

Compensation: $20.00–$25.00/hour

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assembly Technician I – Wire Harnesses to join a growing prototype shop team in Eden Prairie, MN. This position is responsible for assembling electrical wire harnesses according to engineering specifications, blueprints, bills of materials, and tooling instructions.

Unlike repetitive production assembly roles, this position provides the opportunity to build a variety of unique wire harnesses in a dynamic prototype environment. Previous wire harness experience is not required, and training is available for motivated candidates who are eager to learn and grow within a technical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Wire Harness Assembly

• Assemble electrical wire harnesses according to engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and tooling instructions
• Use standard assembly tools, including screwdrivers, wire strippers, wrenches, hand crimp tools, and soldering equipment
• Perform manual and machine-assisted assembly operations accurately and efficiently
• Interpret sketches, prints, and engineering notes to produce dimensionally accurate wire harnesses
• Maintain attention to detail throughout the assembly process to ensure quality standards are met

Testing & Documentation

• Read and interpret detailed wire harness prints and technical documentation
• Operate testing software and assist with troubleshooting electrical harness issues
• Identify and document discrepancies and communicate concerns to engineers and designers
• Assist with creating and reviewing assembly instructions and testing documentation
• Use computer systems to maintain accurate documentation and production records

Collaboration & Production Support

• Work closely with engineers, designers, and technicians to understand project requirements
• Communicate effectively to clarify design details and resolve discrepancies
• Adapt to changing project requirements within a prototype and low-volume production environment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards
• Assist with additional assembly and production responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

Required

• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions, blueprints, sketches, and engineering documentation
• Basic computer skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Strong hand dexterity and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to stand throughout the shift and operate foot controls as needed
• Ability to frequently grasp, handle, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive hand movements
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25 pounds
• Ability to maintain focus and visual accuracy when performing detailed assembly work
• Adequate depth perception and color vision to perform detailed wire harness assembly tasks

Preferred

• Previous assembly, wiring, electrical, or manufacturing experience
• Experience with soldering, crimping, or hand tools
• Previous prototype or low-volume production experience

Working Conditions:

• Prototype shop and engineering environment with regular exposure to assembly tools and equipment
• Hands-on work involving detailed electrical components and wire harness assemblies
• Frequent use of hand and power tools, soldering equipment, and testing systems
• Combination of standing, reaching, handling components, and repetitive assembly tasks throughout the shift
• Detail-oriented work requiring consistent focus, accuracy, and quality
• Collaborative environment involving regular interaction with engineers, designers, and technicians
• Required adherence to established safety procedures and quality standards
