Paramedic - Cardiac Stress Technician

THE CARDIAC AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE is a cardiology practice in Gainesville and Lake City. We are seeking a CARDIAC MONITOR TECH to join our Lake City team. This position is located in zip code 32605 . GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for performing stress tests in the Nuclear Laboratory (routine, SPECT and PET stress tests) and general patient care. LOCATION : Lake City ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of stress testing protocols and EKG interpretation.
2. Prepares patient procedure paperwork prior to testing and ensures proper order, diagnosis, insurance information and all documentation is obtained prior to procedure.
3. Performs patient assessment, preparation and procedures according to established nuclear lab guidelines. 4. Monitors patients to recognize changes in the patient's condition and functions effectively in an emergency situation.
5. Provides accurate and appropriate information for patients and/or family members regarding procedures and test results.
6. Obtains essential information from patients, medical records and previous studies for clinical correlation.
7. Submits diagnostic exams to physicians for interpretation.
8. Assists in performing life-saving techniques (CPR, first aid) to the patient if necessary.
9. Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination. Handles blood and body fluids and deals with infectious patients.
10. Consistently start intravenous lines with a maximum "two stick" aseptic technique.
11. Wears appropriate radiation badge and maintains ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) concept.
12. Performs patient care tasks as appropriate.
13. Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
14. Maintains equipment by properly cleaning and performing scheduled quality control checks and brings to the attention of the Manager any discrepancies.
15. Other duties as assigned.
16.The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position. EDUCATION: Certified or Registered Medical Assistant, or Certified Nursing Assistant, or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, or Certified EMT or Paramedic or any other cardiac stress testing training required. EXPERIENCE: Minimum one or more years' experience and/or training. REQUIREMENTS : Advanced Cardiac Life Support CPR certificate maintained. Successful completion of required job competencies within 90 days of employment date. ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS: Combination of office, exam and other clinical settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires some bending, stooping, stretching, pushing, pulling, reaching, kneeling, grasping, and sitting in normal office environment. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighting up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand conditions.
