Medical-Surgical RN in Macon, GA

This opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses with a background in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing at a major teaching hospital. The unit accommodates a census of 20 adult patients who require acute care related to kidney disease, renal surgeries, dialysis, and typical med-surg co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, and CHF. Nurses will apply strong clinical assessment skills, managing complex care including tracheostomy, chest tubes, IV drips, telemetry monitoring, wound care, and patient education focused on renal and fluid management.


Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic kidney conditions including ESRD and peritoneal dialysis
• Manage post-op urology and renal surgeries alongside co-morbidities common in med-surg populations
• Perform advanced nursing skills: PIV starts, central line care, insulin and heparin drip titrations, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and trach/chest tube management
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, intensivists, and respiratory therapists
• Conduct discharge planning and patient education related to fluid and renal management
• Support efficient unit workflow through use of EMR (EPIC), telemetry monitoring, and specialized dialysis equipment

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in medical-surgical/telemetry settings
• Active RN license, BLS and BCR required; ACLS preferred
• National certification in Medical-Surgical or Nephrology Nursing strongly preferred
• Comfortable managing complex drips and dialysis equipment; training available for peritoneal dialysis procedures
• Able to work 7A-7P or 7P-7A shifts with weekend rotations on a 6-week schedule
