Events Operations Manager

*This position will be required to spend time at multiple Journeyman locations in Indiana and Michigan. The Events Operations Manager will bring booked events to life by owning event detailing, staff leadership, and on‑site execution—ensuring every event is properly planned, staffed, and delivered to standard. The ideal candidate is positive, assertive, prioritizes multiple tasks, is passionate about hospitality, and is willing to dedicate time to meet client needs, translate customer requests, and lead a service team. Principal Duties Client Relations Work with the Event Sales Manager to understand each booked client and take over communication once contracted. Meet with clients to understand expectations, budget, and food & beverage needs—including dietary restrictions—throughout planning. Help clients design a timeline and an attractive floor plan that facilitates efficient service. Finalize menus, create invoices, and facilitate payments, adhering to deadlines and coordinating with Accounting & Finance. Ensure all BEO details are finalized per contractual timelines and obtain client sign‑off for accuracy and approval. Host group tastings of food and beverage offerings and private tastings as needed. Event Day – Full Ownership (Manager on Duty) Coordinate with Event Leads and other staff for setup, breakdown, and execution of each event. Prepare the facility for guests and oversee post‑event cleanliness and organization. Lead the pre‑event meeting with the team detailing event specifics and service timeline. Be onsite for the required period to ensure proper execution of pre‑ and post‑meal service. Management of Event Staff Interview, hire, and schedule all Event Staff (servers, bartenders, utilities, leads, etc.) for events at the primary assigned location. Lead training of all Event Staff at the primary location. Work with Event Leads for set up and breakdown details at all locations. Delegate duties to manage demand and timelines of each event across all locations. Compose and deliver performance reviews for all Event Staff at the primary location. Document corrective actions and disciplinary issues per Human Resources guidelines across all locations. Day‑to‑Day Collaborate with the culinary team on client menu requests and keep them informed of updates or changes. Maintain inventory of catering supplies and ensure cleaning and organization of spaces at the primary location. Work with outside vendors as needed and assist with onboarding using proper protocols and vendor guidelines. Handle administrative tasks such as payroll facilitation, reporting, point‑of‑sale procedures, and inventory for food and beverage functions at all locations. Respond promptly and thoroughly to client emails and phone calls.
