Direct Support Professional

RHA Health Services is looking for personable, energetic and dedicated Direct Support Caregiver (also called Direct Support Associate) to join our home caregiver team in an entry‑level role that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities As a Direct Support Caregiver you will provide support for your clients both in residential and day care settings. Your duties include: Providing opportunities for choice and encouraging clients to exercise control over themselves and their environment. Assisting with food preparation, house cleaning, and other daily living tasks. Helping clients identify and acquire valued social roles, healthy personal and social habits. Continuously assessing functional levels, motivating clients and providing consistent reinforcement, assessments, and feedback for all learning activities. Dispensing medication, monitoring dosages, and recording notes in charts as per training. Transporting and accompanying clients to and from day programs, work sites, and community activities. Supporting clients at vocational sites to help meet their responsibilities. Other duties as directed by the Direct Care Manager and assigned shift schedule. Qualifications High school diploma or GED; Associate Degree in a health‑related field or two years of experience in a health‑related field preferred. Experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities preferred. Valid driver’s license and automotive insurance (required for transportation duties). Flexible schedule and availability for on‑call coverage as needed. Ability to pass background check and drug screen. CPR, first‑aid, NCI and/or MedTech certification is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills, patient, compassionate, nurturing, and calm in stressful situations. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.; comfortable with physical tasks required for the role. Physical Requirements Regularly required to lift 30 lbs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs., pull a minimum of 50 lbs., squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, stoop, and use hands to handle objects. Must be able to stand and walk regularly, and demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level. Vision: close, distance, and peripheral vision. Adequate hearing and speaking ability required.
