Minimum Qualifications for Physical Therapist

• Degree: Doctorates Degree.
• Education: Entry-level physical therapists must be graduates of a physical therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Completion of professional coursework in the specialty area such as Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS).
• Experience: Two years of experience within the last three years as a physical therapist.
• Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist.

Core Duties for Physical Therapist

• Perform a full range of physical therapist services in accordance with the scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF.
• Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on an evaluation of the patient.
• Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing various physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in use of assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
• Administer soft tissue mobilization, applying knowledge of mobilization techniques and body physiology.
• Administer traction to relieve pain, using traction equipment.
• Record treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart and/or automated systems.
• Coordinate treatment with physicians and other staff members to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment programs and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of the patient's health care. Contact referring physicians regarding patient care concerns, as required.

Perform prevention and wellness activities, education, screening, and promote positive health behaviors. Labor Category: SURGE– Physical Therapist – DCSS – PT/OT Work Schedule: Services shall normally be provided Sunday through Saturday including Federal Holidays, between the hours of 0600 and 1800, for either an 8.5 or 11-hour period to include an uncompensated 30 or 60-minute hour meal break. HCW on a regularly scheduled alternative workweek shall not work longer than ten (10) hours in a day within a 40-hour workweek. Overtime is NOT authorized.
