Associate Attorney

Role Description The Associate Attorney will work on-site in Knoxville, TN in a full-time capacity, supporting clients in family law and business law matters. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching and analyzing statutes, regulations, and case law; drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, policies, and internal memoranda; and handling hearings, depositions, and litigation matters. The role involves providing legal advice under supervision, participating in negotiations, assisting with discovery, and supporting attorneys in hearings, mediations, and trials. The Associate Attorney will also communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties, help manage case files and deadlines, and contribute to firm initiatives such as training materials and client updates. Collaboration with partners and senior attorneys is expected to ensure effective strategy development and high-quality representation.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Law, including civil procedure and relevant substantive areas, with the ability to apply legal principles to complex fact patterns.
• Ability to provide sound Legal Advice under supervision, including assessing risk, identifying options, and communicating recommendations clearly and professionally.
• Excellent Research skills, including proficiency with legal research platforms, case law analysis, and synthesis of statutes, regulations, and secondary sources.
• Effective Negotiation skills, with the ability to prepare for and participate in settlement discussions, mediations, and workplace-related negotiations.
• Tennessee law license (or eligibility and intent to obtain admission promptly) and graduation from an accredited law school.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail in drafting, and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines responsibly.
• Professional demeanor, ethical judgment, and capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented law firm environment.
• Prior experience or internships in litigation roles are beneficial but not strictly required for consideration.
