Chief Executive Officer | Full-Time | Exempt
At this time, we are seeking only candidates with experience working in the Pacific Northwest.
The CEO will report directly to the Governing Board Chair. The Center for Mental Health dba Many Rivers Whole Health (Many Rivers) has an operating budget of approximately $16 million, which includes federal, state, private, and grant funds. There are approximately 150 employees located in Great Falls, Helena, Conrad, and Havre. Many Rivers projects rapid growth because of its recent commitment to the integrated health model of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC).
Many Rivers is proud to have been quick and responsive to the needs of clients for access to quality services and now is turning its attention to developing the infrastructure, culture, and technologies to manage its growth. The next CEO will have the opportunity to sustain the organization’s expansion, diversification of services, and partnerships. While focusing its attention on critical core issues that have emerged since the CCBHC transformation.
A primary objective is workforce resilience, creatively addressing issues related to employee recruitment, professional development, employee retention, team building, and accountability factors. Of importance is establishing a culture of clear and transparent communication whereby employees in multiple locations experience equal connection to Many Rivers’ core mission.
The CEO will focus on administrative and operational efficiencies to enhance a flexible workforce, cross-collaboration, and communications at all levels of the organization. Also, critical for long-term success, the next leader will invest in technological infrastructure to assist Many Rivers leaders to better anticipate the costs of delivery and access to services. While navigating multiple and complex funding streams as well as environmental uncertainties. Overall, the CEO will have the opportunity to serve as a leader in connecting Many Rivers’ mission and values to a healthy organizational culture and best practices.
Job Responsibilities :
- Accountable for creating an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
- Oversee MRWH operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources consistent with MRWH mission.
- Implement instructions and policies of the Governing Board.
- Recommend policies, procedures, and practices for proper administration to the Board.
- Makes recommendations based on appropriate research and impartial analysis; responsible for maintenance of MRWH policies and procedures manuals; supports Board policies and decisions; represents the interest of the Board in all MRWH/community relationships.
- Recruits, appoints, and directs the affairs of MRWH personnel either directly or through subordinate MRWH employees.
- Focus on strategic planning efforts with senior leadership and Governing Board members.
- Advise the Governing Board of the financial conditions, future needs of MRWH programs, and make recommendations for program needs to achieve budgeted financial objectives.
- Supervises maintenance and expansion of MRWH management information systems.
- Maintains contact with governmental agencies and legislative bodies and generates funding through all appropriate resources.
- Enforces the performance of agreements and contracts to which MRWH is a party.
- Supervises the administration of capital improvement programs, expansion of services and long-range planning; with appropriate members of the staff to integrate the services of MRWH with other health, welfare, and educational programs to effectively utilize all appropriate resources.
- Consults with and provides leadership, information, and education to the community and professional groups in broad areas of behavioral health.
- Exercises managerial supervision over professional, technical, and administrative personnel directly or through subordinate employees.
- Removes, discharges, or changes in the position of MRWH employees for better functioning of MRWH.
- Reports to the MRWH Governing Board members.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of business administration, laws, regulations, and policies of general management practices such as setting goals and procedures; administering a budget; developing work plans and priorities; coordinating services with other agencies; techniques of supervision; fiscal management practices; and modern administrative and supervisory methods and procedures. Ability to plan, organize and develop a behavioral health program to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the MRWH employees and community groups; to work closely with allied disciplines and to speak effectively before lay and professional audiences.

Education & Experience:
- Hold a minimum of a Master's degree in related fields to support complex decision making is required.
- Six years’ experience in Behavioral Health field preferred, with 6 years in senior level administration and supervision is required.
- Currently working as a behavioral executive, i.e. CEO at a Behavioral Health facility or as a Director of Behavioral Health facility.
- A working knowledge of behavioral health management practices and clinical operations.
- An advanced knowledge of state and federal regulatory and various accreditation requirements related to behavioral health management.
- Working knowledge of operations and financial management, and marketing methods.
- Ability to travel a minimum of 10% of the time.
- OR equivalent combination of education and work experience in behavioral health administration.
