About the job RN-Pre-Op / Same Day Surgery Job Requirements: Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure Assess patients post-operative condition Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician Communicates and collaborates with nurses, physicians, technicians and other members of the healthcare team to develop a plan of care to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care. Charts observations and activities related to patient care in electronic health record. Provides safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for a patient population using critical thinking skills, advocacy abilities and ethical approaches. Demonstrates awareness of organizational values, mission, and philosophy through interactions with physicians, patients and peers. Assumes responsibility for professional education and development. Complete mandatory in-service requirements. Completes at least 20 hours of continuing education in addition to mandatory requirements within the last year that is specific to daily clinical practice. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited nursing school (Required) Current Registered Nurse License in this state (Illinois) BLS and ACLS(Required) General clinical competency in acute patient care 4-5 years of PACU/SDS, ED, ICU, or Medsurg/Tele (Required) Ability to work variable hours Adaptive to learn new techniques and skills in the OR Experience in spine, ortho and robotic surgeries Have a good knowledge of inventory and supplies in the operating room Required Citizenship / Work Permit / Visa Status
