Head Nurse (40 Hour)

Position Highlights Facility: Capitol Region Mental Health Center (CRMHC) Team: Inpatient Unit Location: Hartford, CT Schedule: Full‑time, 40 hours per week, 3rd shift (12:15 am – 8:15 am) Week 1 Days Off: Friday & Tuesday; Week 2 Days Off: Saturday & Sunday

Shift and weekend differential eligible State‑licensed registered nurse required (or CT license through Nurse Licensure Compact) Compensation: annual recruitment/retention bonus of $3,000 (pro‑rated for part‑time) Job Responsibilities Provide administrative and clinical oversight, including supervision of professional nurses and paraprofessionals Plan and implement nursing care and ensure nursing process execution Identify educational gaps and contribute to development of annual staff competencies Maintain unit workflow, priorities, policies, and practice standards Ensure a safe environment and competent care for clients Lead and support interdisciplinary teamwork, patient care planning, and performance evaluations Respond to emergencies and manage controlled drugs Provide direct care, assessments, and discharge planning as required Qualifications Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse Bachelor’s degree in nursing may substitute one (1) year of general experience Preferred Qualifications Experience working with behavioral health clients in an inpatient setting Experience supervising direct care staff in behavioral health Experience leading or guiding subordinates in a clinical setting Special Requirements Must possess and retain a Connecticut registered nurse license or a multistate/compact registered nurse license May be required to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in American Sign Language May be required to travel EEO Statement The State of Connecticut is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and strongly encourages applications from women, minorities, and persons with disabilities. #J-18808-Ljbffr State of Connecticut - DMHAS Capitol Region Mental Health
