Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA, provides the newest medical technology in a healing environment. It is the most comprehensive facility of its kind on the Virginia Peninsula. This short-term acute care hospital with 300 beds is a voluntary nonprofit and a member of Riverside Health System. The hospital features a neonatal intensive care unit with 21 beds and neonatologists located on-site.

Case Assignments: Diverse and challenging case mix includes general, endo, vascular, neuro, radiology, vascular, thoracic, urology, cardiac, bariatric, orthopedic, plastics ENT, OB, and GYN.

Shifts: Weekday call is 7:00 PM-7:00 AM with a guaranteed post-call day off. About 3 calls per month.

Responsibilities: Assist in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department. Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures. Pre-anesthesia assessment. Obtain and/or verify patient consent. Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient. Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia. Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition. Performance of clinical intervention as needed.

Requirements: M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine. ECFMG and FLEX Completion. Completion of approved residency in anesthesia. Currently licensed as a physician.
