Advanced Otology Fellowship Opportunity

Our organization is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill a one-year Advanced Otology Fellowship within the Division of Otolaryngology at our medical institution.

This fellowship, which is not ACGME-accredited, offers in-depth training in advanced otologic and neurotologic surgical techniques, equipping the fellow for independent practice and a successful career in either academic or private otology. The selected fellow will hold the position of Clinical Instructor.

The fellowship includes a wealth of surgical experience, covering procedures such as:

• Tympanoplasty
• Canal wall up and canal wall down mastoidectomy
• Stapes surgery
• Ossicular reconstruction
• Cochlear implantation
• Facial nerve decompression
• Lateral temporal bone resection
• Superior canal dehiscence repair
• Cerebellopontine angle tumor surgery

Graduated autonomy is a key focus, with appropriate faculty oversight.

The fellow will manage two outpatient clinics each week, participate in an attending-level call schedule, and care for a diverse patient population with a strong focus on otologic conditions. The fellow will have unrestricted access to the temporal bone laboratory and will actively engage in resident education and teaching temporal bone dissection.

Research and scholarly activities are highly encouraged, with opportunities to publish findings and present at both national and international conferences, including those hosted by the American Otologic Society and the American Neurotologic Society.

The program adheres to all Graduate Medical Education (GME) policies, including guidelines for fatigue and wellness.

Required Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree (or equivalent) from an accredited medical institution
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery
• Board eligible or board certified in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery
• Eligibility for medical licensure in New York State
• Qualification for appointment as a Clinical Instructor at our institution
• Ability to engage in attending-level clinical responsibilities, including outpatient clinics, surgical cases, and call duties
• Dedication to patient care, professionalism, and teamwork
• Commitment to resident education and mentorship, including involvement in temporal bone laboratory instruction
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Interest in academic medicine, clinical research, and teaching
• Experience or interest in scholarly activities, including publications or presentations at national conferences
• Career aspirations aligned with becoming a comprehensive otologist in academic or high-volume clinical environments

This is a Non-Tenure Track position and is classified as FLSA Exempt, meaning it is not eligible for overtime compensation.
