Medical Assistant — Full Job Description

The Medical Assistant is a key member of the clinical care team, responsible for supporting daily operations through accurate patient intake, vital sign documentation, and hands‐on clinical assistance. This role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in EHR documentation , effective appointment coordination , and the ability to provide clear patient education to ensure a positive and efficient care experience.

Essential Responsibilities

• Patient intake including verifying demographics, collecting medical history, and recording vital signs with accuracy
• EHR documentation of patient information, clinical notes, and visit details in accordance with organizational standards
• Appointment scheduling , patient flow coordination, and communication with providers to maintain efficient clinic operations
• Phlebotomy tasks including blood draws, specimen labeling, and preparation for laboratory processing
• Assist providers with clinical procedures, room preparation, and equipment setup
• Provide patient education on care instructions, follow‐up steps, and treatment plans
• Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and ensure compliance with infection control standards
• Support administrative tasks such as insurance verification, referrals, and documentation requests

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of basic clinical procedures and medical terminology
• Proficiency in electronic health record systems and accurate data entry
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear patient guidance
• Ability to multitask in a fast‐paced clinical environment
• Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and patient‐centered care
• 1+ years of experience in medical assisting or a similar clinical support role
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA)
