Job Summary and Qualifications The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. TriStar Centennial Medical Center is a 740+ bed comprehensive facility offering medical and surgical programs, including behavioral health, 24‑hour emergency care, heart and vascular, imaging, neurosciences, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, rehabilitation, sleep disorder, and women’s services. The campus is 43 acres and houses the Children’s Hospital, Heart & Vascular Center, Women’s Hospital, Cancer Institute, Advanced Joint Replacement Institute, and Parthenon Pavilion. Responsibilities Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Respond promptly to patient requests, striving to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Teach patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow‑up measures. Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Teach patients/families/caregivers about non‑medicinal follow‑up measures, such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and other lifestyle changes. Prepare patients and families/caregivers for future self‑management. Qualifications Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support – Supervisor (PALS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date. Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required. One year of RN experience required. Pediatric ER experience highly preferred.
