Nurse Practitioner

Clinical Services Provide treatment including gynecologic exams, physical exams, breast exams, pelvic exams, contraception management, gynecology (GYN), IUD/implant insertion and removal. Conduct tests related to reproductive health including cervical cancer screening, clinical breast examinations, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, and vaginitis testing. Provide referrals for colposcopy, biopsy, cryotherapy, and other services as needed. Provide interpretation of laboratory and test results, as well as diagnosing pathological conditions, infective and cytological conditions. Review existing objective and subjective data, develop a client problem list and a plan of care based on client assessment. Record clinical services in individual client records and document using an Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. Immunization Services Administer immunizations such as influenza and coronavirus disease 2019, per the approved immunization schedule, as recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). Education and Counseling Provide clients with health education and counseling related to family planning methods and women's health issues, including information on self‑breast exam and cervical cancer screening. Conduct health education activities in the clinical setting that are age appropriate and client centered, focusing on lifestyle behaviors most associated with premature and preventable morbidity and mortality, including but not limited to tobacco use, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, substance abuse prevention, domestic violence prevention, and other patient‑need dictated topics. Provide medical consultation and support for Reproductive Health staff employed by the Public Health Services District. Provide on‑call telephone consultation for emergency contraception and birth‑control refill services. Provide mental health service referrals as necessary. Credentialing and Quality Management Provide information and cooperate to complete the credentialing and recredentialing process when requested. For the avoidance of doubt, credentialing expenses shall be paid by PCPHSD throughout the term of a resultant contract with the County. Participate in quality management studies and audits, completing required documents and reports within requested time frames. Assist in ensuring that quality of care issues, which may impact health, safety, and well‑being, are identified and corrected.
