ED Registrar III - AS PAS Walnut Creek - Part Time - 8 Hour - PMs

Role Overview The Patient Access Services (PAS) Emergency Department Registrar III provides additional support to ED staff by coordinating registration, authorization, and information processing for ED services. The registrar gathers demographic, clinical, and financial information promptly and accurately to ensure a smooth patient experience across John Muir Health's services. This position reports directly to the department manager. Key Responsibilities Coordinate registration, authorization, and information processing requirements for ED services. Collect and verify appropriate demographic, clinical, and financial data from patients and relevant sources. Ensure timely, accurate data entry into the electronic health record system. Assist ED staff in addressing patient care issues related to registration and billing. Maintain documentation and records in compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. Work independently and as part of a team to meet departmental goals. Required Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent (Required). Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office setting (Preferred). Minimum 2 years of experience with insurance plan payment practices and billing requirements (Preferred). Minimum 2 years of experience with information technology and electronic health record systems (Preferred). Knowledge of health care, insurance, and third‑party payers. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with EPIC electronic medical record system. Demonstrated willingness to learn new software programs. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Skills Excellent written and verbal communication. Proficient keyboarding with touch typing. Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation. Ability to respond compassionately, patiently, and flexibly to varied circumstances. Self‑directed and team‑oriented work style. Work Shift and Schedule Shift: 2:00p.m. – 10:30p.m., variable days per week (approximately 28 weekly hours). The position is exempt (not eligible for overtime) as indicated by "exempt" on the shift designation. Compensation Hourly rate: $34.69 – $45.89, commensurate with experience and/or licensure.
