Product Design Lead
Our client is a rapidly growing Series A defense-tech startup founded by former Palantir operators and backed by a recent $15M raise led by Lux Capital and Altman Capital. With a tight-knit team of around 20 employees, they build an AI-powered compliance platform called Conduit that automates and accelerates massive bureaucratic workflows—like ITAR compliance, security classification, and e-discovery—for the U.S. government and the defense industrial base. Operating with a strong hybrid footprint right here in New York City, they are pioneering mission-critical, AI-augmented infrastructure that turns dense policies into expert AI reviewers. They are looking for a highly autonomous Product Design Lead who brings 3–5+ years of experience designing complex, stateful digital products and strong frontend React skills to operate as a true technical partner. You will own the entire design process to build a scalable, component-driven design system that engineers will use by default and that is directly consumable by AI tools like Claude Code—taking design completely out of the Figma silo. Operating as a proactive product owner, you will actively tweak TSX/CSS, push PRs, and leverage rapid prototyping to define the UI/UX direction for high-stakes operational workflows before heavy engineering even begins.
