Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC)

Position Overview Landscaper in Wahiawa, HI. This role maintains interior and exterior of buildings, grounds, and roadways. The primary duty is maintenance and minor repairs of structures and equipment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintain interior & exterior of buildings, grounds, and roadways; perform minor repairs of structures and equipment. Cut grass using walk‑behind or riding mowers (≤ 2,000 lbs). Trim hedges/edges around walkways, flower beds, and walls using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools. Clean walks, drives, and parking areas with landscape blower or vacuum. Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth using shears and hand tools. Spray lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicide, and/or insecticide. Plant grass, trees, flowers, and shrubs. Water lawns and shrubs. Perform litter and debris clean‑up. Weed ornamental landscape beds. Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, buildings, and equipment. Clean comfort stations, office and workshop areas, residential units, or parking areas by sweeping, washing, mopping, and polishing. Assist spill response team as assigned. Load and unload trucks and other conveyances. Move supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrows or hand trucks. Collect refuse and salvageable materials. Dig, fill, and tamp earth excavations. Level ground using pick, shovel, tamper, and rake. Clean culverts and ditches. Cut trees and brush. Operate power tools such as chain saws, lawnmowers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers. Wash, wax, vacuum, and polish vehicles/equipment. Move heavy pieces of machinery and equipment. Pick up leaves and trash. Accountable for meeting safety performance standards and completing all work safely. Report accidents, injuries, "near miss" and hazardous situations promptly. Perform minor routine maintenance of equipment used in daily functions. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Required (Minimum) Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED. United States citizen or eligible to work in the United States. Minimum 6 months experience with mowing and landscape equipment. Ability to work with little or no supervision. Work performed outdoors; subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather. Hazards include bodily harm, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors, and elevated noise levels. Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft‑carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces. Work hours may change, with weekend work or long hours as needed. Specific vision required: close vision. Standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, or smelling may be required; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics Knowledge of organizational procedures and workflows. Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools – e.g., Microsoft 365, communication platforms, or industry‑standard software. Knowledge of customer service practices. Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality principles. Communication skills (written and verbal). Time management and prioritization. Problem‑solving and critical thinking. Interpersonal and teamwork skills. Attention to detail. Preferred None. Necessary Physical Requirements Move throughout the property, including accessing multiple floors, stairways, and mechanical spaces. Remain stationary or move for extended periods during inspections or issue resolution. Operate standard maintenance tools and office equipment. Position self (bend, stoop, kneel, reach) to inspect or access equipment and areas requiring maintenance. Move items of moderate weight (up to 25–50 lbs) or coordinate assistance when needed. Communicate effectively with tenants, staff, and vendors. Work Environment Combination of office, residential/commercial, indoor, and outdoor environments. Regular movement throughout the property, including common areas, mechanical rooms, and exterior spaces. Variable environmental conditions: heat, cold, rain, snow; noise from equipment; dust, odors, cleaning agents, building materials. Interaction with tenants, employees, vendors, and contractors in routine and time‑sensitive situations. Potential emergency situations outside of standard business hours. Use of standard office equipment and occasional maintenance tools or equipment. Supervisory Responsibilities No supervisory responsibilities. DOT Covered / Safety‑Sensitive Role Requirements Not subject to federal Department of Transportation safety‑sensitive functions. Additional Qualifying Factors Must pass pre‑employment drug screening and background check. Obtain and maintain any required clearance levels and access to military installations if applicable to the contract.
