- Brain tumors
- Epilepsy and functional neurosurgery
- Spine and head trauma
- Hydrocephalus
- Pituitary and skull base surgery
- Spinal neurosurgery
- Pediatric and fetal neurosurgery
- Provide surgical care for patients with epilepsy and movement disorders in close collaboration with neurology specialists
- Participate actively in the education and mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students
- Contribute to the department?s research mission, including:
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations across UNC?s neuroscience, imaging, and engineering communities
- MD or MD/PhD (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- Board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Neurological Surgery
- Fellowship training in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery
- Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of North Carolina
- Ability to obtain credentials to practice within the UNC Health Care System
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with neurosurgical, critical care, and multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Demonstrated expertise in the evaluation and surgical treatment of epilepsy
- Experience with microelectrode-guided deep brain stimulation (DBS); experience with asleep DBS preferred
- Strong clinical track record and commitment to academic productivity
- For senior candidates, a history of extramural funding, innovation, and impactful scholarly publications
