JE Construction Services is looking for a Surveyor Party Chief to join our team!

Position Description

• Making plane and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects, machine control support, and various other survey support work.
• Survey and mapping methods, use of equipment and field safety procedures.
• Sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment, including Robotic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles.
• Ensure compliance with contract specifications.
• Proactively upholds all JE Construction Services safety polices and standards.
• Maintains strict adherence to Company policies and procedures.
• Assumes additional responsibilities as directed.
• Create, manage and maintain project layout and construction data.
• Establish and maintain standardized machine control / survey models and construction survey data for project level operations.
• Perform calculations such as alignments, drainage, structures and roadway modeling.
• Create machine and data collector files for the projects.
• Perform and assist with quality control on data calculated.
• And other duties as assigned by project management

Position Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge in heavy construction industry and knowledge of Civil/Heavy Highway Industry
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and translate into survey data for layout in the field.
• Proficient in model building for machine control.
• Proficient knowledge in Construction Industry Standards
• Must possess a valid driver's license
• Must be able to be work non-routine hours, when necessary
• Familiar with a wide variety of Heavy Highway and Survey practices and principles.
• Familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Previous experience on TxDOT construction projects.
• Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized.

Education and Experience:

• 5 years of survey field and/or office software experience working on Heavy Highway Construction projects.
• Construction: 5 year (Preferred)

Physical Requirements:

• Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds at a time.
• Be able to work in extreme weather conditions, hot and cold weather.
